agentav --help
Built for the stack you already run
Six ways in, one engine. Start by watching a live service with no code changes, then move enforcement as close to the agent as you like.
The SDK, CLI and control plane are provided to pilot customers. Request access.
- Watch a live serviceMonitoring tap: ASGI middleware or wrapped functions, never in the request path.
- Protect an agent you writePython SDK: guard tools, tool lists and memory in-process.
- Harden MCP serversMCP firewall in front of any stdio server.
- Cover developer machinesClaude Code hooks and a config scanner.
monitoring tap
Watch a live service without touching its handlers
The tap is a single standard-library file. It records prompts, answers and tool activity, ships them to the control plane in the background, and never waits for a verdict, so it cannot slow down or break the service it watches. If the control plane is down, events are dropped and counted. Credential-looking fields are redacted before they leave.
from agentav.tap import AgentAVMiddleware, Target, instrument
# prompts in and answers out, for the routes you choose
app.add_middleware(AgentAVMiddleware, paths=["/api/agents"])
# tool calls and results, by import path, with no edits to those modules
instrument([
Target("myapp.tools:send_email", tool="send_email"),
Target("myapp.search:WebSearch.run", tool="web_search", call_kind=None),
])# configuration
AGENTAV_URL=https://agentav.example.com # or a private network address
AGENTAV_API_KEY=... # your tenant key
AGENTAV_TAP_ENABLED=0 # off switch
AGENTAV_TAP_SAMPLE=0.25 # optional: send a quarter of eventsThis is how the EDS Agents production pilot is connected: nine functions instrumented, monitor-only, with the results on the live dashboard.
python sdk
Guard an agent from the inside
The SDK runs the engine in-process, so there is no network call per event. Blocked tool calls raise Blocked. Poisoned tool results are not raised: they are replaced with a notice, so the agent keeps working without ever seeing the attacker's instructions.
from agentav import Guard, Blocked
guard = Guard(agent_id="titan-trader", approver=ask_human)
@guard.tool
def place_order(symbol: str, qty: int) -> str: ...
safe_tools = guard.tools(mcp_tool_definitions, server="github") # drops poisoned tools
guard.prompt(user_text)
guard.output(model_text) # secrets and exfil links
guard.memory_write(note)The approver is any function that receives the verdict and the event and returns True to let the action run. Without one, actions that need approval are denied.
mcp firewall
Put every MCP server behind a firewall
The firewall runs in front of any stdio MCP server. It removes poisoned tools from tools/list, holds tools that have not been vetted, blocks dangerous calls, withholds or redacts poisoned results, and inspects resources, prompts and sampling requests. Tool pinning holds any tool that changes after you approved it.

Check every tool call on a developer's machine
Hooks run before and after each Claude Code tool call, on every prompt and at session start. Risky calls are denied or sent to the developer to confirm, injected tool output is flagged to the model, and secrets in prompts are caught before they are sent.
agentav install claude-code --scope project # show what would change

Scan from any language
Send an event, get a verdict. Your tenant comes from the API key, never from the request body, so one customer can never read or write another's data.

|---|---|
POST /v1/scan | Scan one event and return its verdict |
POST /v1/scan/batch | Scan up to 500 events in one request |
GET /v1/detections | Detections, filtered by session, severity or review status |
POST /v1/detections/{id}/label | Mark a detection as a real threat or a false alarm |
GET /v1/sessions | Sessions with their taint, sensitivity and quarantine state |
POST /v1/sessions/{id}/quarantine | Stop a session; /release lets it continue |
POST /v1/canaries | Issue a canary token: a plain token, an AWS-style key, a URL or an email address |
GET /v1/report | The pilot report as JSON, Markdown or HTML |
GET /v1/stats, GET /v1/rules | Counts for a time window; the loaded signature packs |
typescript client
Node agents and MCP servers
A small client for the REST API with the same guard pattern: tool calls checked before they run, results filtered before the model sees them, tool lists cleaned. You choose whether to fail open or closed when the control plane cannot be reached.
const av = new AgentAV({ baseUrl: "https://agentav.example.com", apiKey: process.env.AGENTAV_KEY, agentId: "support-bot" });
const fetchPage = av.wrapTool("web_fetch", async (args: { url: string }) => fetch(args.url).then((r) => r.text()));
const safeTools = await av.filterTools(mcpTools, "github");config scanner
Scan agent configuration in CI
Agent instructions and tool configs are code now. The scanner reads CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, .cursorrules, MCP configs, skills and settings, and writes SARIF so findings show up in your repository's code scanning tab.
agentav scan --user # this machine's agent configs
agentav scan . --format sarif --output agentav.sarif --fail-on highverdict reference
What every verdict contains
| Field | Meaning |
|---|---|
action | What happens now: allow, log, warn, redact, require_approval, block or quarantine. In monitor mode this is never stronger than log. |
would_action | What enforce mode would have done. This is what a pilot report counts. |
risk | 0 to 100, combined from every finding's severity and confidence |
findings | Each detector that fired, with severity, category, masked evidence and OWASP codes |
sanitized | The cleaned content when the verdict is redact |
latency_ms | Time the engine took for this event |
Event kinds and trust levels are listed on the platform page.
